A few weeks before Evelyn was born I bought some yarn to knit her a blanket. It helped to distract me at the end of my pregnancy. =)
My mom, who gave me a love of knitting, worked on it quite a bit when she was here and even while I was in labor.
This is the first blanket I have knitted and I am so pleased with how it turned out.

Reading with Nate
Here are a couple more recent photos of Evelyn that I took on my phone. I have taken lots of pictures of her with my camera, but have been unable to find the card reader. Hopefully it will turn up soon!
Evelyn is getting so big so quickly!! She is very strong and always wanting to hold her head up and look at everything. Her favorite position is up high on my shoulder, preferably with me walking so her view is always changing. =) Also, she has started smiling this week! Coaxing a smile out of her and laughing at the way her cheeks scrunch up is my new favorite pastime.
Sadly, she has begun to go bald on the top of her head just like her big brother did. Hopefully she won't lose it all, just have it thin out a bit. Otherwise, she will be sporting large bows and cute hats!
Look at the pudge on that neck! (Is "pudge" a word?)
One day last week I was trying to cook dinner and Nate was fussing around my legs. This was the resulting solution. He loved it!
Nate will frequently read books to himself...
...but when he sees me nearby...
...he grabs the nearest book and comes running, pleading...
and then we sit down together and read.

Encouragement in mothering
If you are a mom, and probably even if you are not, you should read these posts. Challenging, yet uplifting. I think I will will be printing them out for re-reading during a time when I don't feel like "plucking" .=)

Pictures of our week..
Evelyn is staying awake more!
Baby feet are precious!
Some of my flowering pots that my mom planted for me while she was here. They brighten up the back patio!
More flowers! This bed will be beautiful once it fills in a bit. Brett finished our three-tiered wall! It looks really nice. This is just the first tier. The others need some more dirt before I can fill them with plants.
As I hoped in my last post, I was able to go see Rose at the end of last week! I enjoyed grooming and lunging her. She looked great! I don't think she missed me at all. =) She has finally put back on all the weight she lost from nursing her foal. Alas, it is fat right now rather than muscle, but I am looking forward to working on changing that in the near future!
I just love this picture I got of Nate yesterday morning. Brett helped me plant our vegetable garden over the weekend, so Nate and I have been watering it every morning. He always wants to help with the watering can and stand, laughing, under the spray of the hose!
He likes to eat his cars...
Isn't he HUGE?!
