Our week

No news from Evelyn yet, except that she seems to be healthy...and happy staying inside! I have had some contractions but that, as my dad so optimistically reminded me yesterday, can happen for months before the baby actually comes. After my mom went late with every single one of us, I think he's a little cynical about due dates. =)

Since my doctor will let me go up to two weeks late before inducing, I am trying to count down to that day rather than to my "due date". So, at least I know that, Lord willing, I will have a baby in my arms three weeks from now. Three weeks sounds terribly far away.

My mom is driving down from Maryland with 7 of my siblings next Wednesday and I am eagerly awaiting their arrival. I can't wait to see them and they will help keep me distracted until Evelyn decides to appear!

We have been staying busy here though! The garden is now tilled in the back yard! So far there are only marigolds planted along the front, but hopefully it will have more plants in it soon. That is something my mom plans to help me with when she arrives. I have tons of little tomato plants growing merrily in my kitchen but they won't be ready for the great outdoors for a couple more weeks. I also planted some annual and perennial flowers in the beds next to our patio. Flowers make me happy!

This week I taught my last riding lessons until after Evelyn arrives. All of my barn friends showered us with gifts  last Saturday. With all the gifts that we have received from my two showers, Evelyn's closet is full of adorable clothes! I have enjoyed organizing them by size and imagining her in them.

Other than that, I alternate between cleaning, organizing, and preparing, and laying on the sofa reading books to Nate because I am too exhausted to do anything else. Nate loves books by the way! We read his favorites several times a day....and then frequently Brett reads them again later. Right now his favorites are : 1 to 10 and Back Again with Curious George, The Lord Builds the House, and I am a Bunny. Last week when I was sick I brought out a wooden puzzle that I had bought a while ago and saved for a future rainy day. The puzzle pieces are different cars and trucks and that has kept him occupied for hours over the last week. He carries the puzzle pieces everywhere and is continually asking me to help him put them in their places. He can tell where they are supposed to go, but can't turn them around so that they actually go in. That and a little matchbox car have been his best friends recently.

He is still not saying many words, but would rather point at an object and say "uh uh uh uh" a million times, even when he knows the word for it. I try to remind myself that he will begin talking at some point.

Here is a sweet picture from a couple weeks ago. Aunt Kristin reading a book to Nate and his friend Luke Thomas.

Please keep Evelyn and me in your prayers!!
