Old McDonald

I had no idea of the limitless creativity available when singing this song. Did you know that Old McDonald can have a monster truck? Or a digger or a bulldozer or a sister or a papa or a basket of flowers or a tree, etc. etc.? Along with all the traditional favorites of course.

Nate had to struggle not to burst into tears during evening church last Sunday when he wanted to request "Old McDonald" and I told him that "OM" was not about God and therefore could not be sung in church.

We now have a system, which keeps everyone (reasonably) happy while singing. We sing one verse of "OM" and then one verse of something else that Mom chooses, then repeat, for as long as Mom wants to keep it up. Recently, even "Holy, holy, holy" cannot compete with "Old McDonald" much to Mom's dismay.

Nate singing "E-I-E-I-OOOO!" is pretty adorable though!

  1. Instead of singing "E-I-E-I-OO", all of my children have learned to sing the vowels: "A, E, I, O, U!" :)
